EMDR Works Because:
EMDR utilizes eye-movements or tapping to activate the brain’s natural ability to heal trauma wounds created in the psyche.
EMDR does not require you to spill all of the details, nor your feelings. It stops the spiraling and moves you forward.
EMDR reprocesses many memories at once. Many people experience some relief of symptoms after just the first reprocessing session.
EMDR Can Help You:
Heal years of childhood abuse.
Recover from domestic violence and narcissistic abuse.
Reduce your nightmares and improve overall sleep quality.
Calm your nervous system and gain control of your emotions.
Feel safe in your body and around after sexual assault.
Choose the Treatment that Meets YOUR Needs!
Weekly EMDR
Ideal for those looking for a slower pace with ongoing support for multiple concerns. In addition to reprocessing, You and your therapist will develop a plan to equip you with the skills and the insights needed to build a life that feels safe and fulfilling once reprocessing is complete.
EMDR Intensives
When weekly therapy is not an option, whether due to your schedule or the intensity of your need for relief, EMDR Intensives are great choice! Intensive programs significantly increase the speed of trauma healing, while reducing the time commitment to your treatment. EMDR Intensives require a commitment of just 3-4 days for drastic reduction of trauma symptoms.
EMDR Adjunct
EMDR Adjuncts are for those who have recently completed an intensive program and/or are currently regularly working with a talk therapist who they love and trust. Adjunct Therapy is used to help you quickly process through newly uncovered thoughts and beliefs that are hindering your ongoing therapeutic journey. Quickly get un-stuck, so you can get back to you.

Online EMDR Therapy is equally effective online as it is when conducted in-person. However, this may not be true if you are found to be inappropriate for online mental health care due to physical or neuro-divergent limitations.
-
This will vary depending on the program selected and the intensity and urgency of your needs. Most clients report feeling some relief with one session of reprocessing.
A full treatment of weekly EMDR is typically 12 sessions, however, some clients with complex or chronic trauma symptoms tend to extend treatment to address multiple issues. Extension of treatment also means long lasting mental health improvement, increased resilience, healthier thought processes, and overall improvement in physical wellness and daily functioning.
-
Recovery achieved from EMDR is long lasting, however, it may not be permanent for some people, depending their unique circumstances. This includes but is not limited to one’s history of mental health symptoms, physical health, environment, supports, and use of healthy coping mechanisms and ongoing self-care.
Some people may benefit from incorporating EMDR sessions into their routine mental health care plan in order to maintain progress.
-
Absolutely! If you already have a therapist that you love, you are welcome to explore incorporating an Intensive Program or Adjunct EMDR Therapy into your mental health care plan.
-
EMDR is not hypnotism. Hypnotism is typically conducted with the eyes closed using techniques to induce an altered state of physical and mental consciousness. This makes the client more receptive to the clinicians suggested thoughts, behaviors, and emotions. The client does not engage as much in the healing process as with EMDR.
EMDR uses eye movements to help clients attune to their mental and physical bodies, while recalling and reprocessing their own negative experiences and feelings. EMDR increases one’s conscious tolerance of discomfort, so that they can gain new and healthy ways of thinking about the past, present, and future. This effectively helps to reduce disassociation, avoidance, and harmful behaviors when faced with adversity.
-
Unfortunately EMDR is not like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. You will retain your memories, old and new, good and bad. EMDR will help you reprocess bad memories in a healthier way, which means less internalization, reduced anxiety, improved mood and functioning, and little to no rumination over the past.
